The beginning of week 3: more furniture being delivered; a fresh water dispenser being installed; registering for payment portals; grappling with IT; re-registering with the JOIC. Just some of the various ‘tasks’ we have completed this past fortnight since opening, as well as a lot of "proper" work to get done. It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks and is both exciting and surprising at the same time.
Perhaps the highlight for us was raising and sending out our first fee-note. Putting aside the unexpectedly hard work in designing and then agreeing a template for our invoices (we can leave aside the identity of the partner who did the heavy lifting here as suffice it to say Mark Boothman would not agree with my recollection! 🤣), it was immensely satisfying sending out that first one. Only topped by it then being paid the very next day! Thank you!
We wanted to also take the opportunity to acknowledge the supportive comments and gestures which have flooded in from our professional colleagues; this has reminded us that the comradery of the Jersey bar and indeed Jersey generally is very much alive and kicking. Everyone is always so busy, particularly when you are appearing in the Samedi Court on a Friday morning or afternoon, or in and out of meetings, it is easy to forget to have that quick catch-up. With the recent opening of BoothmanJones LLP there has been a constant stream of colleagues, friends and family making a point of coming over, having a word and wishing us well. It has not gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated. Onwards and upwards.
Most of all though, our thanks goes to clients new to us and old. We are humbled by the trust you place in us to represent you and we couldn't be more grateful for the support that you have placed in us and our new business.
